'Vigo-Beiramar' Alzheimer's Day Care Centre

AFAGA has been managing the Day Centre specialising in Alzheimer’s and other dementias since 2008. This centre is governed by an agreement with the Xunta de Galicia and has 40 places for elderly people with dementia of the Alzheimer’s type.

Access to these places is processed through the area of Dependency of the Department of Work and Welfare.

Among the programmes and services provided at the centre are:

Basic services: food, transport, personal care, hygiene and hygiene, health control and maintenance, assistance in basic activities of daily living (ABVD) and help with meals.

Therapeutic services: There are two types, specific services aimed at the user (to be developed through the therapeutic intervention programme) and specific services for the family carer (articulated in the family intervention programme).

The programmes that are developed are:

• Cognitive stimulation
• Motor stimulation
• Stimulation with tools based on new technologies
• Gerontogymnastics
• Functional stimulation with a physiotherapist
• Motor stimulation with an occupational therapist
• Labour therapy
• Music therapy
