The Mind Guardian

The Mind Guardian is an innovative project for the early detection of cognitive decline, based on a tablet Android game, developed by Samsung Iberia, the University of Vigo, and the Galicia Sur Health Research Institute. (Forbes)
The application uses gamification and artificial intelligence techniques to assess different types of memory in people over 55 years old, providing an accessible, simple, and non-invasive screening tool that can be used at home in a user-friendly environment.
AFAGA has actively participated in the project’s validation process, contributing the perspective and experience of people with cognitive decline and their families, helping ensure that the tool meets real needs.
In 2025, The Mind Guardian was awarded the Second Prize in the patient category at the Innovation in Health Awards of the Galician Public Health System (ACIS SERGAS), highlighting its social impact and person-centered approach.
