At AFAGA we are starting the year with a lot of energy and many projects in mind.
Our aim is to provide local resources specialising in Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and also to do our bit in the fight against these diseases.
In 2023 this will translate into two new milestones:
- The start-up of a new day centre in Faisán Street, in Vigo. This is much needed due to the great demand. In Vigo there are around 8,000 people with some type of dementia, but there are more, around 25,000 people affected, including carers and relatives, and between 30% and 40% of cases are still undiagnosed.
- The creation of a Knowledge Hub on Ageing. We want to bring together companies, research centres and administrations in a project for which Vigo is amply prepared, has all the necessary factors to host it, and would constitute an entity for research, training and awareness of ageing and its health and social circumstances.
Ambitious but necessary projects, and for which we will need the involvement of the administrations and other collaborating entities.
We talked about all this with Jacobo Buceta in the Dual Interview of Cadena SER and TeleVigo, we encourage you to watch it and share your impressions and ideas in the comments.
