Online training session
Psychologist from Afaga Alzheimer will participate in the first webinar “Aliados en Alzheimer”
- It will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11:00 am, it is aimed at patients and caregivers.
Maximina Rodríguez Fernández, psychologist at Afaga Alzheimer, will participate with an exhibition entitled “Adaptations in the care of people with Alzheimer’s disease in the covid-19 pandemic”, starting the first webinar of a series of “Allies in Alzheimer” training organized by the Spanish Alzheimer’s Confederation (CEAFA) and Nutricia, the specialized nutrition division of the Danone Specialized Nutrition group.
“The health crisis led to greater emotional overload and a feeling of exhaustion among family members and caregivers due to not being able to access the respite time provided, on the one hand, by the assistance of their relative with Alzheimer’s to some care device and, on the other , the absence of practical family and social support. This feeling of loneliness and isolation, linked to care, has been very present among these people during the pandemic, “commented Maximina.
Thus, psychological and behavioral alterations such as agitation, sleep disorder and depression, among others, have been observed due to this lack of activity and the environmental isolation typical of the pandemic, which occurred with greater intensity during confinement. And, as a consequence of the health collapse of recent months, the early diagnosis of patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) has slowed down.
This first training session, aimed at patients and caregivers, will take place this Thursday, May 13. Attendance registration can be done at www.webinars.nutriciaprofesionales.nutricia.es.
