Galician Alzheimer's Innovation Centre
Creation and implementation of a global, interdisciplinary and cutting-edge response to Alzheimer’s disease and other types of neurodegenerative dementias, from a cross-cutting perspective throughout the entire disease cycle, even before the first outward symptoms appear.
This response is achieved through the implementation of various programmes in the same place, the ‘Galician Alzheimer’s Innovation Centre’ (CIAG), which will provide a cutting-edge response with a great impact on the living and family environment of people with these diseases.
This project, promoted by AFAGA Alzheimer, will have various types of programmes that will provide comprehensive support (360掳 approach), including the following:
78 beneficiaries with dementia with an hourly intensity of 4 hours from Monday to Friday.
Around 500 beneficiaries are expected per year.
The intensity will be determined by the characteristics of each of the research projects. Special mention should be made of the project that AFAGA Alzheimer formulated jointly with the University of Santiago, the University of Porto, the Galician Health Knowledge Agency (ACIS) and the Galician Health Service (SERGAS), among others, within the framework of a European call for proposals that will be partially implemented in this unit.
Organisation of courses for relatives and the environment of people with neurodegenerative dementia, as well as for health professionals.
The centre will host intergenerational activities in collaboration with educational centres, as well as actions to promote gender co-responsibility in the field of care and programmes for the prevention of cognitive deterioration.
