Afaga and Afapo start “Marín Therapeutic Day Center”
- It has 27 places for the elderly and a home transport service.
For the first time two associations with the same objective administer and manage the same day center, involving the Association of Relatives and Patients with Alzheimer’s and other Dementias of Galicia (Afaga) and the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s patients of Pontevedra (Afapo) . Since June 1, the “Marín Therapeutic Day Center” began to function, whose objective is to respond to the need for intervention in the Marín city council and its area of influence.
Afapo and the Marín city council manage a therapeutic stimulation unit at Finca de Briz with capacity for 20 users, thus the new “Marín Therapeutic Day Center” reflects continuity and reinforcement in the work.
The “Marín Therapeutic Day Center” has resources of greater intensity to work on reinforcing self-esteem, stimulation, and autonomy. Helping users develop new projects of personal fulfillment, from an individualized intervention model.
Highly prepared to work with older people, the multidisciplinary team of professionals at the “Centro de día Terapeutico Marín” is made up of social educators, social workers, psychologists and physiotherapists. The extensive facilities, with capacity for 27 seats, open from 9 in the morning to 8 in the afternoon, with transport service.
