Afaga’s Centre for Comprehensive Care hosted the first session of the course “A caregiver, two lives.”

Maxi Rodríguez, an Afaga’s psychologist and organiser of this workshop, addressed topics such as: the importance of self-care in improving caregiving, the necessity to know how to express feelings and emotions, specially in the family environment, and the relevance of receiving training in your relative’s pathology to have a good knowledge of the Alzheimer’s disease and its evolution.

Lastly, the workshop also dealt with the importance of taking breaks for the main caregiver in order not to be overburdened.

Maxi Rodríguez was really satisfied with the outcome of this first session because according to her “the group is really participatory and was willing to start the course.”
